Wenne Alton Davis, an actor known for roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and numerous TV shows, died Monday after being struck by a vehicle in midtown Manhattan, according to New York police. Davis was 60 and used they/them pronouns.
Police said officers responded around 9 p.m. to West 53rd Street and Broadway, where Davis was found lying in the roadway after being hit by a Black Cadillac SUV. They suffered severe head and body trauma and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The SUV was driven by a 61-year-old man, who was not injured. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
Davis’ agent, Jamie Harris, paid tribute on Instagram, writing: “Rest in peace, old friend. We will miss you forever.”
Davis held roles in Blindspot, New Amsterdam, and appeared in the film Shame starring Michael Fassbender. They lived in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, police said.
