Let’s start with one that might not actually happen. Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s hero on Friday night, wants to stay put and fight for his spot. He also seems keen to enjoy hearing his new song from the Kop for a little while longer.

As deadline day looms, the focus shifts to players looking for a move—or being pushed toward one. Chelsea’s squad is overloaded, and the club is actively trying to offload several players. Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku headline a group of eight who the Blues want gone. Bayern Munich are open to taking Nkunku on loan, but Chelsea prefer a permanent exit.

Fulham are interested in Sterling, seeing him as a possible “Willian-style” signing as Marco Silva works his usual rebuild. Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Tyrique George, and Aarón Anselmino are also being lined up for either loans or sales. Aston Villa have already been linked with Jackson.

Over at Manchester United, André Onana could be on the move again. Dropped at the weekend for Altay Bayindir, with Tom Heaton on the bench, the keeper might find himself heading back to Inter Milan—the club where he starred in their 2023 Champions League final run.

Liverpool are eyeing Marc Guéhi, though that one may not be imminent. Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze also looks likely to drag on. Palace want both players to stay as they push for the Conference League group stage—they face Fredrikstad on Thursday. Spurs are said to be preparing a structured offer worth £55m plus add-ons for Eze. Rennes defender Jérémy Jacquet could be lined up as Guehi’s replacement if Palace agree to sell.

As for Newcastle, any move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is off the table for now. Brentford say they won’t sell until they’ve signed a replacement. Newcastle are still on the hunt for someone to cover for the injured Alexander Isak.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund want to take Manchester City youngster Claudio Echeverri on loan. The Argentine midfielder featured in last season’s FA Cup final while Jack Grealish sat on the bench. City also plan to send new signing Sverre Nypan out on loan to Middlesbrough.
