A 36-year-old semi-truck driver has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Florida, according to authorities.

The driver, identified as Numon Azimov, was taken into custody earlier this week following an incident that raised concerns about impaired driving on public roads. Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that Azimov was operating a commercial “big rig” vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Signs of Impairment

According to FHP reports, troopers observed several indicators suggesting the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. These included:

  • Bloodshot and watery eyes
  • Noticeable odor of alcohol
  • Behavior consistent with impairment

Law enforcement officers conducted a stop after observing suspicious driving behavior. Following the stop, further investigation led to Azimov being charged with DUI.

Language Barrier Noted

Authorities also noted that Azimov spoke very limited English, which may have complicated communication during the traffic stop. However, officials have not indicated that the language barrier impacted the enforcement of the law or the charges filed.

Commercial Driving Concerns

The case has drawn attention due to the fact that Azimov was operating a commercial semi-truck, which can pose significant risks when driven under the influence. Commercial drivers are typically held to stricter safety standards because of the size and potential danger of their vehicles.

Under Florida law, commercial drivers can face serious penalties for DUI offenses, including license suspension, fines, and possible jail time.

Ongoing Legal Process

Azimov is expected to go through the legal process in Florida courts. As with all criminal cases, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of road safety and warn that driving under the influence—especially in large commercial vehicles—can have severe and potentially deadly consequences.
